Zoom and Rotate do not "toggle" back to previous tool when hotkey is let go. Breaks painting workflow.

So for as long as I can recall, at least 3-4 weeks ago, photoshop CC 2014 worked like this for me:

(windows 10)
(wacom cintiq)

I use "B" to select my brush, I'm painting along, and hold either R (rotate), Z (zoom) or H (pan) [or space] and manipulate the rotation, zoom level, or pan position with my stylus, let the express key or key on the keyboard go, and I'm back to the brush.

Not sure what changed, but in CC 2015 or a reverted CC 2014, only pan/hand behaves like this.

Which is maddening. I don't want to have to manually reselect my brush tool or map yet another key to "get back" to what I was doing.

For the life of me I can't get that to work again in CC 2014, I thought maybe with CC 2015's new "disable hotkeys for hidden toolbar items" it might be weird.

Any ideas? I'm using fresh installs of just about everything but Windows at this point.

You are most likely looking for a system wide option change related to key handling.

Photoshop CC 2014 hasn't been updated in a while, so it didn't change.
And Photoshop CC 2015 has separate preferences, so a change made there could not affect 2014.

Thanks for the reply Chris!
Yeah, I was just spinning wheels, couldn't figure out what the heck had really "changed" since the only thing I did was unplug my cintiq, and use it on another PC for a couple weeks.

I finally went back and wiped out PS completely, then reinstalled old Cintiq drivers from Wacom from like, this March.

Then reinstalled PS.
Then everything seems to work OK.

Kind of figures it was probably Wacom's faulty drivers that did something along the way. Was just really odd that even with Wacom drivers not on my system and the tablet completely disconnected, the keyboard still saw the issue.

In any event, things seem to be OK for the time being.
Thanks again for the reply.
I really really enjoy the new option to remove unused tools from the toolbar. that's great for custom workspaces!

Also, just holding out for the ability to take some of my 200+ tool presets for brushes, and shove them into a button I can put on said toolbar. But other than that, PS holds the crown for the go-to painting application!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled PHOTOSHOP CC 2015 - Rotate broken. Does not toggle in Windows or OS X. W or W/O W....

Rotate Key (R) [or any other function assigned to Rotate Canvas] not properly "toggling" with key press/release. Permanently selects tool until another is selected. Other view tools like Pan or Zoom correctly toggle.

Windows 10 (currently updated)
Mac OS X 10.11.2

With or without Wacom Drivers present, Adobe PS CC 2014 (updated) and CC 2015 (updated) 64 bit.

I thought I had a handle on this with rolling back to previous Wacom drivers, but no dice. Pan and Zoom are fine. Rotate just wants to stick to it's tool. Previous thread a week or so back was a "false alarm" when I thought rolling back Wacom drivers fixed the issue on my Windows machine.
