Tried to request a new feature for Lightroom on your feature request page (lens profile support for Pentax SMCP-FA AL 35mm f2.0), but the page isn't working right. Please fix, and kindly pass along my request.

Thanks for your reply, Jeffrey. Not quite sure what "this" refers to, though, since there's no link in your phrase that I can detect. If you mean this very page, might be helpful to give it an appropriate title and a link from the inoperative "feature request page" (as well as close that page down). In any case, I gather I've made my request as effectively as I can now ... right? If so, no need to reply again; if not, kindly advise.

You're good in terms of making your request.

This, refers to your post and this forum/feedback site. More info here:

Can you provide a link to the page you refer to as being inoperable?

Wayne, do you realise that you can create your own lens profiles with the Adobe Lens Profile Creator?

I understand that an official lens profile typically requires input on behalf of Pentax and i don't see them putting any effort into legacy lenses.

Thanks for the suggestion, TK. I'd heard you can now create your own lens profiles, but never checked it out before. After following your link, though, it certainly looks like a good Plan B! Re Pentax and legacy lenses, since two groups of Pentax lenses have just been added to the lens profile support list over the past couple of months or so (first the * and Limited lenses, then the regular line), I was hoping that Pentax legacy lenses would soon appear as a third installment. As you suggest, however, that may be rather optimistic on my part. Still, I thought I'd try to encourage them in that direction with my request. Think I'll try contacting them this week, and see what they say. For me at this point, it's a choice between keeping the FA 35mm 2.0 I just ordered (I think I got the last one from B&H before it was "discontinued"), or exchanging it for the DA 35mm 2.8 Macro, which LR does now support (with v. 3.3). Without the lens profile issue, I preferred the FA 2.0 to the DA 2.8 macro, but only by a bit, so if Pentax is really not going to provide lens profile support for their legacy lenses, that might swing it for me....

A user-contributed profile for that lens is available through the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.

Thanks, Mark, that's especially interesting as the Pentax Forum doesn't show any profiles for the lens on their listing yet (at least as of this morning). I'll check the ALP Downloader out when my LR3 order arrives this week.

Hi again Mark -- Just got, installed, and updated LR3, then followed your link, found the profile for the FA 35mm 2.0, and installed it. All that thanks to you, TK, and Jeffrey ... and the lens doesn't even arrive till tomorrow! Sure appreciate the help!

Glad it's solved for you, Guy!

Jeffrey, it might be a good idea to mark this Solved (or whatever the right term is for an Idea) so that others might learn that profiles can be found with the Lens Profile Downloader.
