Lightroom 4: very frequent crashes/hangs/freezes

Hi,
before i take the step to reinstall LR4,
I would like to gather some information from all of you out there,
who uses Lightroom 4.1.

If you work on a Win 7 x64 system, LR4.1
and often experience CRASHES
... (NOT simply performance issues or sluggishness)
drop me a line, here.

> I have these crashes almost every 5 minutes,
depending on how heavy I'm working on the images.
Sometimes the hang is just a second or two and it catches itself
but more often I get no response anymore, at all.

It doesn't crash on me. Same system. It's sluggish when the second scene is on but otherwise ok now.

Andrea, do you work on an updated LR3 or is it a fresh install?

No crashes on two Win7 x64 systems.

Upgraded catalog fro LR1-LR2-LR3.

Depending on the nature of the crashes (you can inspect this via the Reliability apps in Windows 7) this is likely a driver or hardware issues. Lightroom is pretty memory intensive, so it tends to be the app that uncovers those problems sooner.

However, the first thing you should try is to create a test account and run Lightroom from that under similar circumstances. Or see if it works with a simple new catalogue, then work up to importing your old catalogue. This way, you work form the known to the unknown in discrete, testable steps.

Could be a memory error. Check your memory with memtest86+ http://www.memtest.org

I have lightroom 4 and it crashes on me regularly. Every time the update window opens up I can not close it or down load anything and i have to reboot my computer to get it going again. I had it on my vista 64 bit PC and it did this so I uninstalled it, decided to try it on my window 7 64 bit and same issue.

You can download the 4.1 update directly from adobe's site and install it without the automatic update feature.

I was able to update it with no difficulties on both computers, after I uninstalled and re installed the program. I have played with several pictures now and no more crashes..so hopefully it is solved
