PS CC 2018 19.0.1 on Windows PC: When using the Brush tool and hitting the X key to change FG & BG colors, PS jumps to the tool used just before choosing the Brush tool. Also, when use Space Bar to get the Hand tool, upon release of the SB PS also jumps to the last tool used before choosing the Brush tool

Howdy Terry,

Hmm, I'm not able to reproduce this on my system.  What kind of keyboard are you using?  Are you also using a tablet?  Which kind?

Thanks,
David

I'm using a USB wired Dell keyboard and an Wacom Intuos 5 tablet. I have one of the Express Keys on the tablet set to switch colors, and the same thing happens when using it to change colors. Note: this has now (in the last 2 days) become an intermediate problem -- things may work correctly for a few color changes, then the problem arises for a few color changes, and then reverts to working correctly. Note also: the computer itself is NOT a Dell -- it was made specifically for me and Photoshop 2 years ago by a local business that makes and repairs computers.

Howdy Terry,

Yeah, I asked that question cuz I had a feeling.  I have zero other reports of similar problems and if such a problem were available in the default app, the forums would be alive with flames...

Not to throw Wacom under the bus, but when keyboard input doesn't behave correctly, I would recommend totally disabling the tablet and all software associated with it and trying again.  In my experience, 9 times out of 10, that will clearly reveal the culprit.  Knowing that, you can either reach out the manufacturer directly (which is what I recommend, since your voice carries more weight than mine would) or let us know and we can do it for you.

Now, it is possible that the Dell keyboard's driver might be the problem, but I would DEFINITELY rule out the tablet first.

Hope that helps,
David

having the same issue -  preferences resent only works for a while. Also this means setting photoshop up again with you owe shortcuts again and layout of pallets etc..
