Photoshop: Would love it if Command Q would quit CS5 apps!

I support a 13 person art dept. and we have problems just quitting all the CS5 applications. Most of the time you have to just force quit. Had some issues with CS4 and I believe even CS3. Doesn't matter if it is OS10.4, 5, or 6. Any suggestions or solutions? Drives us crazy! We hate losing our preference settings when this happens. If we can put a man on the moon, surely we can make a quit command work!

Could you provide more details?
For everyone else, quitting just quits.

The only problem I know of is crashing on quit in Photoshop due to bugs in third party plugins (which need to be updated).

Kevin, do you mind if I contact you directly to get your System Info from Photoshop? That would give us a good idea what might be at play in your issue?

First party software seems to have issues, too. Just having ESTK open in the background can crash Photoshop if it is linked. I use a lot of scripts, but no other kinds of plugins, and I have to force quit a lot. Fortunately, I don't lose any work.

I would like PS to start saving preferences changes when they are made. I frequently have support issues because users don't restart after installing a new action or script, then they end up losing the changes when Photoshop crashes.

That's a good idea in and of itself - to at least save changes from the Preferences dialog when it closes. We still need to some save session data (Like where the panels moved to prior to quit)

David, would you mind if I contacted you directly? I've got a couple of questions about your use of scripting.

Yes, you can contact me.

Saving preference changes: When I said preferences, I meant to say anything that is not a document. For me, actions are the most important. perhaps I should start a new topic.

Not sure what additional details to provide. We have a mixed environment with OS's ranging from 10.4.9 to 10.6 and I get complaints from most of the users from time to time. We have no third party plugins that I am aware of. If we want to zero in on a single machine, my machine is a MacBook Pro 2.5 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. 4 GB RAM, OS 10.5.8. Running CS5 design standard. More often than not I have to command/option/escape and then force quit all Adobe apps. It happens with the entire suite of apps, not just photoshop.

Hello Kevin!
Are you opening and saving files locally, or over the network?

PECourtejole, I am mostly opening and saving files locally, although occasionally over a network. Avoid that if at all possible though to minimize file corruption.
