I cannot find the workplace reference under window in menu bar, (using a mac with OSX El Capitan,) there is nothing on the interface referring to the essentials workplace or my workplaces I had set up with previous versions . does anyone know a solution to this The side panels drop onto another desktop when in Library module and I have to reboot to retrieve them. An answer would be greatly appreciated especially about finding the workplace preference .

Lightroom doesn't have workspaces (e.g. Essentials) like Photoshop. Sounds like the window is just too large to fit on your screen. You can drag the titlebar to the left and then resize the Lightroom window's right edge in to make it smaller so it can fit on your monitor.
