I have contacted tech support 2 times and they have gone through my computer to optimize it for Lightroom 4, both versions 4.1 and 4.2. I have a quad core processor computer with 6GB of RAM, an internal drive, the program is set to "High Priority" for its useage level. It is running 64-bit mode and uses about 3-4 GB of RAM and there are at least 2 GB left unused. I have the cache purged, the catalog is either optimized or empty. With all this stuff done the program runs slow. When I use a brush it sometimes takes 2 seconds to see the results which makes it hard to paint. It also takes a couple seconds to see the crop box and then it takes a couple more seconds to actually slide the crop box. It takes me double the amont of time to edit my photos. If I could have used LR version 3.6 with my Nikon D4 files I would have done that.

I am using 3x the minimum requirements and its unacceptably slow. LR 4 seems like a nice program that does some complex processing but if I need an i7 processor 16GB of RAM and a dedicated graphics card, you should tell peple that.

For what it`s worth, at least with my old Q6600 (quadcore) and 8GB, LR4 is so slow that it doesn`t make sense to use it.
