Since my main reason for using a computer is to upload and edit photos, I am getting even more frustrated because, in addition to not being able to convert from NEF to JPG, I cannot open Lightroom or upload photos to my computer. I just keep getting "error" boxes. Can anyone please help me??

Windows 10 permissions are more locked down so you may need to adjust the permissions on the folders that contain your catalog and photos.

Also for LR 6/CC the GPU is used by default in Develop, so try turning that off in LR / Prefs / Performance

If either of these aren't what you're experiencing, then explain what "Error boxes" means by quoting the error messages.

Right now, I can't even open Lightroom. I need some direction on how to make these changes. I can open Photoshop 2015 CC but don't know where preferences and performances. Also how do I find Windows 10 permissions? Sorry if I sound like a dunce!

For LR:

Use Notepad or WordPad to open the LR Preferences file on Windows:

c:\Users\-username-\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs

and the line you want to change is: UseAutoBahn=false (instead of true)

For PS:

PS: Edit / Preferences / Performance

For Windows 10 Permissions, that is a function of the OS, not Adobe software.

I am not on Windows 10, yet, so would suggest you Google (changing permissions Windows 10)

OK! Now I have a new problem. When I go into facebook and try to upload photos, I can't get it to work. I have never had a problem uploading shots before. Could this have anything to do with Windows 10 being installed?
