Selection tools in CS6 64bit cause background to flicker in Windows 8 64bit. The background flickers between transparent and black.

Please see this FAQ as a work around while we work on a permanent fix with AMD. This will allow the GPU features to still work.

Issue

When you run Photoshop CS6 in Windows 8, the image canvas is transparent or flickers.

Solution

Change the GPU Drawing Mode to Basic:

In Photoshop, choose Edit > Preferences > Performance.
Select Advanced Settings.
Choose Basic from the Drawing Mode pop-up menu.
Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
