Photoshop: Ability to save "vector smart objects" as an .svg file with the Generator?

I know actually there is an option(beta) to save photoshop vector layers as .svg via the generator but for our agency it would be really handy if we have the possibility to save vector smart objects in the same way.

We would be pleased, if the generator could use the scaled(down or up) size of the placed smart object and saves the svg file with this dimentions. Maybe we ́ll get an option to maintain strokes or convert them to fills, cause this sometimes caused problems with svg ́s.

Do you guys plan to implement something like this?

We can't do that, because Photoshop cannot read the .AI, .EPS or .PDF vector data in those files to convert it to SVG. Doing so would require a full copy of Illustrator inside Photoshop.

Photoshop can only convert it's own vector data to SVG.

Thx for your reply, Chris.

Thats really sad to hear :(
I think this should be stunning for all the webdesigners and app developer if this feature could be implemented for the generator.

"Doing so would require a full copy of Illustrator inside Photoshop" - that's not really true - Photoshop would only need to understand basic vector specifications (which it must do to render the smart object). I also think this is a big limitation of Photoshop/Smart objects - exporting photoshop files to PDFs should really mean that vector smart objects remain as vectors (for all sorts of reasons - quality, filesize advantages). I've seen various attempts to justify Photoshop's conversion of VSOs to bitmaps during file exports, but it's a REAL shame and a big limitation that it does this.
