It would be nice if Lightroom could add PNG as an export option.

I agree.

In the mean time, you can set up post-processing to convert to png, or use Exportant's png output option.

I have a feature request for PNG export support in LR. Hopefully if enough people "like" the request it will be put under consideration.

I just "liked" and replied to your request.

I've been wanting this feature for quite some time.

Not sure why it hasn't been implemented yet, as it would be very simple to do.

If we're able to use so many powerful features within Lightroom (like clone/heal, etc.) without needing to export to Photoshop; why not enable a simple PNG export option?

One of the reasons PNG would be handy, is because Facebook completely destroys image quality. Much of what I've read on the subject recommends PNG instead of JPEG, to combat Facebook's aggressive compression and tinyRGB colorspace.
