Why can't I copy images from Windows Photo Viewer and paste them into Photoshop CC? Had no problem in CS5.

When working in Photoshop CS5, I can open a photo with Windows Photo Viewer, and copy it by using CTRL+C or by right clicking and selecting "Copy", then I can paste the image into any file I have open in PS CS5. When I try to do this in Photoshop CC, nothing happens when I try to paste the image with CTRL+V and if I try to paste it by right clicking and selecting "paste", the "paste" option is grayed out.

I tried copying and pasting from images opened with Paint, just as a control test, and it works just fine.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I need to put multiple photos on several pages in Photoshop, and opening them in Photoshop individually first will take an inordinate amout of time.

Thank you!

Paste would be grayed out if the OS is telling Photoshop that there is nothing on the clipboard, or the data on the clipboard is in a form that Photoshop cannot read.

If it works with Paint, then most likely something is up with PhotoViewer.

Non-technical:

Browsers and MS Paint put the actual image on the Windows Clipboard when you copy it. Photoshop allows you to paste this.

Windows Photo Viewer puts the path to the file on the clipboard (Data type is actually a FileDrop). Photoshop doesn't know it's an image so paste doesn't work like you're expecting to.
