Why won't my computer complete the update needed to get the Camera Raw Plug In that is required for my camera?

I recently upgraded cameras and I am unable to open raw files in my CS5. I'm not able to open any of my raw files taken from the new camera, OR any of the raw files that were taken years ago with previous cameras. I am very aware that this is because I need to update the camera raw plug in to at least the 6.2 version, and my computer is trying to update even to the 6.7 version. But the trouble comes in when I get the error message that reads:

"The following updates were unable to install. If you wish to install these updates, please fix the problem below and retry:

There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."

Obviously, this is not at all helpful, and quite annoying. I've been trying to do this update for at least 2 weeks. So, quitting and trying again later is not really a solution. In an effort to get this solved, I click on the link in the updater that says "Contact Customer Support for further assistance", and it takes me to a page about entering my serial number, but nowhere has it asked me for my serial number, and I don't know where to go to enter it again.

So, I am not only frustrated that I can't get the update to work, I am frustrated that I can't find any support on the issue other than this forum.
