I think that it is really a big shame ... a company like Adobe can not update in a timely manner the reference PDF of Lightroom, one of the most used software globally.

I have searched two things today in the latest reference PDF file downloaded from the help page of Lightroom.

One of them was "crop to same aspect ratio". There is only a row in the PDF about it, but not a description just a shortcut of it ... and the other was about the "smoothness" slider on the detail panel on the color noise reduction portion.

I don't know in which versions these functions were added to Lightroom, but I'm sure that it was not the latest one. So, when saying "in a timely manner", maybe I mean a very long time.

Thanks a lot for your interest.

Hi Jeff,

As the name suggest -it is the reference book of Lr-, I think that it should explain every functionality available in Lr.

I've just updated my Lightroom. After starting Lr 2015.5.1, I clicked "Help > Lightroom Help". From the help web page, I just downloaded the help PDF again for Lr CC/6 ... and I searched the color noise smoothness once more. There is still nothing about the "smoothness" slider.

Could you please try it yourself?
Noise section is beginning at page 200.

Can one learn anything about the "smoothness" slider available on the develop module from the reference of Lr?

And more interestingly ... in the noise section, there is a video link in Lr CC/6 reference referring to a video in which Lr 5 was used.

It seems that my problem, like the problem in the help department, is still not solved.

The Smoothness Slider was introduced in Lightroom 5.2. Here is a video from Julieanne Kost showing the equivalent slider in Adobe Camera Raw. It may provide you with additional information.

Maybe, I'm missing something ... but in the noise section of the latest reference PDF, I can not see a link to a video from Julieanne Kost saying what the smoothness slider does. Search the latest PDF for "smoothness", nothing found as well. Of course, I learnt about it from the web, but my point is ... I would like to see a more exacting reference book for Lr. It seems that no one reads or checks the reference of Lr in Adobe anymore. Thanks a lot.

Until Adobe decide to create a full reference guide (which is fairly unlikely, IMO), there are some excellent reference books on Amazon.  I promise I check the references in mine!
