Why PHOTOSHOP CC 2015 Artboard feature is a mess to use with INDESIGN ?

Hi Everyone,

When i heard about the feature of artboard in Photoshop CC2015 i was so excited to imagine that this feature will be correctly integrated with Indesign like it is with Illustrator Artboard.
After trying to import Photoshop Artboard in Indesign, i was so disappointed to realize it's a mess to use.

In Illustrator, Indesign only retrieve the contents of the selected Illustrator artboard (not the dimension of the AI artboards) and updates the image correctly. This behaviour is very efficient.

In Photoshop CC2015 Indesign is not able to retrieve the content of a selected artboard (only the image), but it retrieves a selected area that contains the image and its position according to the dimension of all artboards.
As a consequence you will get a very small image in a huge selection.
Of course you can make some adjustement by increasing the size of the image inside the image frame, but when you make some modification in PS, you will loose your adjustment.

It’s a real mess to use this way.

I hope Adobe will change that in a futur version to make it easy to important Artboard content in Indesign like it is in AI.

Best regards.

This site supports the Photoshop family of products. The InDesign team won't see anything posted here. So you might want to post to the InDesign user forums over at https://forums.adobe.com/community/in...

Please remember that Illustrator artboards have been around for a few years, while PS artboards have only been around a few months -- the ID team will need time to add support for Photoshop artboards.
