I can't solve the mystery of these faint horizontal white lines. Please advice on what to do. Thanks.

This is quite urgent.

Which application are you using?
Which version?
Which OS version?

What file format is the image in?
Do the artifacts show up when you open it, or after working on the image?

I am using the Adobe Photoshop CS6

OSX Version 10.8.5

The file format is in the .jpg and .pdf
The lines only show up in the images after I opened the .jpg/.pdf
It does not show in .psd file

Opening a PDF could cause artifacts like that, depending on how the PDF was created. JPEG should not show artifacts like that (even bad RAM or VRAM wouldn't be that regular).
