Help! I am importing CR2 files into Lightroom and suddenly they are processing as BW. I cannot get them back to the original color. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Look up at the top of Develop, just under the histogram and see whether you're in Color mode or B&W mode.

It's possible you've inadvertently set your LR defaults to be B&W.

Also check your Import Preset area and make sure you haven't specified a B&W preset.

checked both and that is not the problem. in the settings menu it is checked as convert to bw and if i unclick it will change to a strange color version (dark, very contrasty and heavy saturation).

Sounds like some sort of preset was applied on import. If you click the [Reset] button in the Develop module, does the image go back to default?

Hold down Shift - the Reset button changes to Reset (Adobe). Click that. I'll bet you've accidentally changed your defaults, so if that fixes it, go to Develop menu > Set Default Settings and press the Restore Adobe Defaults button.
