Add to collection on import before converting to DNG/generating previews?

Question is self-evident really - if I specify that I want some imported photos added to a particular collection, why is this the last (and I mean very last) step of the import process? If, like on my current laptop, converting to DNG and generating previews takes an age (so long that I often end up cancelling the latter until I get home), then once the import is 'finished' (i.e. I get the notification sound that import has finished) it looks like Lightroom has ignored my request to add the imported photos to a collection - as it won't do it until the other steps are done. I don't see why this isn't done as each photo is added to the catalog, or at least before the other steps are started.

If you would like the workflow to change, you have the option to convert this post into a feature request (Idea). Others can then add their voice to it and add supporting comments.

OK, how do I do that? I don't see any way to edit the post - or do I have to create a new one?

Sean,
You have that option as a drop-down list in the top-left side of this web page.

Thanks,
Sunil

Sorry, but there isn't any drop-down list for me - although I see someone has changed the post type for me.
