Elements 14: Why do color sync and color matching areas become greyed out?

The printer is a Canon Pro-100. The way I correct this issue is to remove all Elements preferences, then quit Elments and restart. Then the color sync and color matching buttons are available. I am using a Mac with the latest OS. Thanks.
I attach a shot of the area I refer to. This shows the buttons ready for use.

That dialog is driven by the OS and your printer driver.

Those printer driver controls should be grayed out (according to Apple's printing guidelines) if Elements is doing the color conversions (because having color conversions done twice will lead to really bad results).

Thanks, Chris. I have in the meantime removed preferences and restarted PSE. We'll see what happens. Canon makes no mention of this and when I called them the company said that there are problems which they put at Adobe's door. Who knows?
