Why can't I use Lightroom anymore since creative cloud took over?

I bought Lightroom, but now with 'creative cloud' taking over I suddenly can't use the development module anymore. It says "please renew your licence" but doesn't offer a way to do that: there is no way to provide the serial nr or reactivate it. Creative cloud thinks that my trial period is over and whereas it shows a log that says I installed it, the only thing it allows me to do is to install it again for another trial. Incredibly frustrating. Any hints and tips?

Apparently, somewhere along the line you have installed from the creative cloud. It's a common mistake that quite a few people seem to have made. Here is a link to where you can download the standalone version of Lightroom:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/update...
It will be necessary for you to uninstall the Lightroom you are using now. In the future, update Lightroom from the help menu.
