PHOTOSHOP CC 2015 - unable to use selection or transform tools

I have updated my photoshop to 2015 and am having a major issue being unable to use the direct selection/path selection tool, which is the most basic essential tool needed. When choosing an object to place, I have the general box around it, allowing me to resize, rotate, etc. But once I choose the option to place that object (or press Enter), I can no longer click on that figure in the layout what so ever. However I can still highlight that layer in the layers panel and do as I choose, but that is beside the point. I could have hundreds of layers in the panel and should not have to go on a hunt for the specific figure to make a quick adjustment, apposed to simply clicking on it. And that being said, even clicking on that layer in the panel will still not reveal in the layout which one was chosen. I have spoken with numerous representatives on this case who have tried to help and actually worked with the technicians who cannot seem to figure out any reason for this issue except assuming that it may be a bug. They said to go back to the 2014 edition again, which I did, and the problem now remains. WHAT IS THE DEAL!!!!?
