PHOTOSHOP - Why after the update, does my iris blur take three times as long to process than it did before?

When using the iris blur, the processing speed is greatly slowed since updating PS. I noticed that cropping is slowed too, causing the photo to move across the screen with a jitter. The whole experience has been nothing but filled with anger after this new update.

Photoshop hasn't had an update since December.
Which version of Photoshop are you using?

What OS version are you using?
Could you have changed your video card driver (or OS version) recently?

Photoshop has not had an update since 15.2.2 in December.

I think you're confusing the Camera Raw update with a Photoshop update.
And the Camera Raw update doesn't affect Photoshop performance unless you are opening a Camera Raw file.

Which version of Photoshop are you using? (CC covers 3 major versions, and lots of updates)

What OS version are you using?
Could you have changed your video card driver (or OS version) recently?

Again, that update was just Camera Raw, not an update to Photoshop.

Restarting fixed the lag, however there's a problem with large black squares that appear on my image when I enlarge it.

My work flow is from Bridge to camera raw, then to Ps. It's been fine till I updated.

You're using MacOS 10.10, which has several known bugs in the video card drivers. Apple is aware of the bugs in MacOS 10.10 and working on solutions.

In the meantime, you may want to turn off GPU usage in Photoshop and restart the app. If you need to use GPU features in Photoshop, then you may want to consider downgrading to a stable version of MacOS.
