I want to just edit/enhance my own personal pictures, I am not a pro.

I have an Olympus e-520 DSLR and a Nikon AW120.

I just purchased Gary Fong light diffusers and he was using Lightroom5 which he recommends. I have the trial version and have posted questions on that elsewhere.

Is lightroom5 the main thing I need?are there other software I need?

I need to run the software on my MacBook Pro (2009) and iPad Air. I don't or can't really buy software for each device.

So, what do you recommend? Thanks

If you want it on your MacBook Pro AND your iPad Air, you'd be best off going for the $9.99/month Photographer's Bundle subscription. That'll get you access to Lightroom for the desktop and the sync facility to use with Lightroom for the iPad.

Alternatively, go for the standalone version of Lightroom and just use it on your MacBook.

You'll also need to check that your MacBook Pro can run a current Mac OS as Lightroom won't run on 10.6 or earlier.
