I have CS5with the latest patches and just upgraded to Windows 7. When I am in PS and go to Open, I can choose many file options but psd is not one of them. It is there for saving, but not opening.

Try scrolling to the top of the dropdown list.

I know it used to be at the top but it isn't there any more, as I said.

Are the scrollbars missing in the open dialog?

Working in CS5 version 12.0.4 x32, it is right at the top of my drop down list. As an alternative: Use the "All Formats" option at the bottom of the list; then you don't miss any file formats.
