Adobe Revel on the desktop keeps a local copy of all your original photo files. We've heard from customers that it's really important to keep these photos on your computer. In your ~/Pictures directory there's your Adobe Revel Library. Your originals are also replicated to Adobe servers in the cloud and protected by your Adobe ID. That way, your photos are accessible on the other devices where you have Adobe Carousel installed, and your desktop computer doesn't have to be turned on or nearby.

On your tablet and smart phone, Adobe Revel loads thumbnails and proxies of your photos for viewing, and only downloads an original if you edit a photo. That way Adobe Revel is moving the smallest bits whenever possible, meaning it doesn’t negatively impact storage or bandwidth on your device, but it’s also grabbing the full res bits when you need them, enabling a full fidelity editing experience.

Please add an option to move the library from ~/Pictures to somewhere else (external RAID5).

My photos are all managed by Lightroom (and until recently synced to Revel via the plug-in). Why would I want Revel to download everything (to an unspecified location on my computer) that I've already uploaded from my computer? Seems things have gotten a little trigger-happy with the whole mobile thing and non-mobile users have been cut loose.

Some users upload the majority of their photos from their mobile devices to revel, and therefore configure the mac to save originals to the computer. This puts a physical backup copy on the mac as well as on revel. Other users start on the computer and upload to revel and disable the feature on the mac since they already have the copy there.

If I'm starting on my laptop by importing pictures to Revel which are then uploaded to the cloud, if I unselect "Keep all Originals" will the size of the Library file on my laptop shrink down as Revel converts to using only cached/thumbnail versions of the file?

If you deselect Keep All Originals, that will not delete the previously saved original files but new originals would not be saved - just the preview files/thumbs. You can clear out your old originals as long as you are absolutely sure you have backups of your originals somewhere safe.
