About my Mac: OS X. 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7. 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

When I try to save as or open files, the dialogue box disappears. I have tried a unistall-restall of the program. I have tried deleting the preferences. I have tried deleting my fonts and nothing is working. Is there a solution for this problem?

Have you restarted your computer/system a couple of times after the update? (for some reason customers are reporting a couple of restarts fixes a number of quirks)

Yeah, I have restarted, completely shut down. And uninstalled/reinstalled twice. It's bizarre how all of the "remedies" given have not worked for me.

Have you tried a new Admin user account? Booting in safe mode?

Some customers are reporting damaged OS updates/installs where a clean install of the OS corrects major issues they are encountering.

I will try this process tomorrow and let you know if this resolves the issue. Thanks for the new idea!

Booting in safe mode did not work. Could downloading Mavericks have caused this? How to you do a fresh install of OS X Mavericks?

Yes, it could be a bug in MacOS 10.9, or it could be due to doing an upgrade install instead of a clean install, or a system extension, etc. So far we haven't reproduced the problem, so we still don't know the cause...

OK, that means it could be caused by a preference of some kind, or some system utility that runs under your normal user account and not the new admin account.

So was this just a temporary fix? Or can I proceed without fear?

I am having the same problem in Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere.
I find the dialogue box disappears when I select the save location as an external drive. As soon as I choose a non-local location to save the box disappears.

Do you have a Wacom tablet by chance? You might want to update the driver for it.
