Elements 10 organizer: When is a rotation not a rotation?

I have Elements 10 on a 64-bit Windows machine. When I rotate an image in the organiser it works fine, but then when I look at the image thumbnail in a Windows 7 folder it is still on its side.

I have upgraded from Elements 6 on XP. When I rotated an image in Elements 6 it also rotated in the XP folder view.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

In Organizer, use Edit...Preferences...Files and uncheck the "Rotate Files using Metadata" option.

From the Help file:
Rotate JPEGs Using Orientation Metadata/Rotate TIFFs Using Orientation Metadata
When these options are selected, the orientation metadata of the image is updated to rotate the image. The image data is untouched; the rotation is specified by just changing the metadata. Rotating an image using its metadata is a faster process than rotating the image itself. Not all applications recognize orientation metadata. If you plan to import your images into such applications, leave these options deselected.
