When I have LR open and I mount a hard disk with files already in my library LR hangs every time and must be forced to quit. This happens every time I do this.
I'm using LR CC 2015.5.1 on a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2015 with OSX 10.11.4.
Part of my image files are on the internal drive, part is on an external drive. The external drive is connected with Thunderbolt.
After restart I get some message about fixing the library and I have not seen any problems after this fix so far.

Nils,
Could you please let us know what error message are you seeing, about fixing the library?
Do you mean to say that it's working without any issues now?

Thanks,
Sunil

When I connect the drive I get a rotating multicolor wheel that never stops.

The error message flickers by really fast and it says something about the catalog.

Everything works fine now. But every time I connect the drive when LR is started it hangs with the rotating wheel and you can't do anything but force a quit.
