.. can't find it.

I always renamed layers using the dialog, and not the tiny, and very tricky to click on name in the Layers panel . Hopefully this is not gone?

Same here! I use Layer Properties like all the time, have it bound to a hotkey. This is very important to me for organizing my PSD, as I don't want to double click on those tiny layers all the time. Please put this back Adobe or give us an option to bind a hotkey to 'Rename Layer'.

Yes, it's actually much more difficult (yes DIFFICULT folks) to click on a very tiny and precise area in the layers Panel, than to use a hot key to bring up the layer dialog. Especially on a professional high res monitor, because the area is more or fairly microscopic. Made even more of a problem up by the fact that if you click in slight the wrong area - something else pops up. Either the Layer Styles dialog or the Properties Panel. Sheesh, some of the idiotic the things you guys do!

Completely agree, should not have removed this.

I used to use Command+Shift+L to bring up Layer Properties to quickly rename my layers and choose a color if necessary. Now that it's gone I have to set that shortcut to Rename Layer, which happens small within the layers palette. Choosing a color now requires right-clicking on a layer. Poor form, Adobe.

i just noticed it. i color code layers. under top menu in layer panel there is a pull down. defaults with 'kind'. i pulled down and chose color. looks like color properties of old but when i choose 'red' for instance, i get message that says 'no layers match the filter'. same with other colors. what is that?

from the moment i unpacked cs6 box to the new "save as", auto save, print dialogue box, and now layer properties, this upgrade (and i've only used photoshop so far) is clumsy, awkward, slow, and confusing; not simple, clear, fast, and precise. an indication that adobe is on the skids
