I've started to bring all my photos into Carousel, I'm right in the middle of an organisation of my photo library and as they're cleaned, I'm moving them to Carousel.

One of the missing features of Carousel is tagging which is cool, I can wait. But whilst I'm waiting, I was wondering what would happen if I was to overlay some sort of tagging app (let's say Lightroom for example) on top of the Carousel library (which you can expose through "show package contents") and edited the metadata from there? Will Carousel recognise the change and sync to the cloud or will it blow my computer up (:P)?

I'm sure this won't be endorsed, but I'm curious either way...

Hi Justin,

I wouldn't recommend attempting to modify the contents of the Adobe Carousel apps package, doing so will most likely cause problems. Adobe Carousel does preserve metadata of imported files. If you wanted organizational features such as tagging and keywords, I would recommend continuing with the same workflows as you used prior to Adobe Carousel, and leaving the originals photos on the system. You might want to turn off the option to store local copies in the Mac desktop version of Adobe Carousel to save space if that is an issue.

I didn't notice the "store local copies" feature in carousel. That's perfect at this point in time.

I'm sure you're already fully aware of the desires for tagging, so won't go on about that :P

I have one final question, I'm at stage one of two in my organising - rejecting lots of unwanted photos so I'm only transferring those I want to keep to Carousel. Step two is tagging and optimising etc. Supposing I was to upload photos to Carousel now, then perform step 2 in Lightroom, if I were to present the photos to Carousel again at a later date, would Carousel consider them new files or amendments to existing files?
