When whites are set to 100, highlight slider reacts strangely on the left side, causing both highlights to go down, but shadows to go up:

Yeah, can confirm. Things get weird at the ends of the basic sliders. If my whites are pushed beyond 70, when i slide the highlights to the right, the shadows get considerably darker.
I tried testing against Process v3 (2012) and found that making any adjustments resets the Process to v4, so it's impossible to use v3 anymore...

I am able to see the behavior as well. I am logging it with the Camera Raw team as an issue for them to investigate. Thanks for the report and the confirmation!

This not only happens with the Whites slider set to +100, but also with lower (positive) values. The function of the Highlights slider seemingly inverts proportionally with positive values of the Whites slider.

Three weeks have past since...

The Camera Raw team has reviewed the behavior and marked this to be an expected result given the design constraints of the toolset. Work will continue on improving the outcome but expect that extreme slider movements may cause unexpected results.
