Are you uploading using the FTP function in the Web module? If so, can you connect to the FTP server using another FTP application or from the OS?

Martin, when you connect to your server using other FTP software, what settings did your host tell you to use? Then we'll be able to tell you what settings to put into Lightroom. (Obviously don't tell us your username/password!)

Jeff i am having this same issue trying to upload from Lightroom to my photoshop gallery the first time i did it all of the ftp info had been autofilled now i get this error. I guess i just need to know is the ftp www.photoshop.com then fill in my username and passcode or am i missing something because it is still not working

That sounds like a different issue. Are you using the Photoshop.com export plug-in to upload to Photoshop.com?
