Lightroom: Web Galleries Associated With Collections Not Retaining Settings

With LR3, if I made a collection in the Library tab and then went to the Web tab, once I made changes to the layout, title, upload directory, etc. for that collection, LR3 would remember those specific settings for that particular collection.

LR4 isn't doing that. Is there some preference that needs to be configured so LR4 will retain the collection specific Web settings? I don't remember ever setting a preference for this behavior in LR3.

LR4 treats collections differently than LR3. See this thread at the Turning Gate forums: http://community.theturninggate.net/discussion/473/problem-transferring-web-pages-from-lightrom-3-to-4#Item_3

Hi Rob,
My issue is a bit different than that addressed by the link you provide. I'll try to walk through what I'm seeing that is different in LR4 from LR3.

In LR4 I create (or have brought over from LR3) a collection in Library (let's say it's pictures of flowers). I then go to Web and apply my custom template that was properly brought over from LR3. I make changes to that template, such as the Title (change to Flowers) and the location that I want the gallery uploaded to. Then I upload. All behavior to this point is the same in LR4 as LR3.

Now, in LR4, let's say I go back to that collection in Library a couple of days later and add an image. I then go to Web. In LR3, that gallery still had "Flowers" as the title and the location for the upload remained the same as the one I created. In LR4 that information is not there. In LR3 I did not have to save a separate template for the Flowers gallery. Having to save a gallery for each page in LR4 is different behavior.

Hopefully this is comprehensible. Thanks Rob,
Bob

Yep, that's the new behavior. If you want your collection to save the web settings you need to save it as a Web Gallery. Look in the upper right of the Preview area and you'll see a button to Create Saved Web Gallery. This will create a new type of collection, a Web Gallery Collection, and the collection icon will be different. You'll still have the old regular collection but this will create a new web collection that you can save beside or inside the old collection
Same rules apply to Book, Slideshow, and Print collections.
