Deb, I have a couple of questions so I can help you better.

OS version #?
Lightroom version #?

Can you be more specific on the 'edit screen' you are in and what type of watermark (simple, text-based, or graphic-based you are using? Is the output to print or file?

This is one of those cases where a picture (screen shot) might be worth a thousand words...

I replied to an email but perhaps I should have replied here.
In LR, I am going to Edit>Edit Watermarks. If I change the font in the Text Options to anything other than the font that is on the screen when you go in and try to change the color, the following occurs!
If I pick blue, the actual trademark and writing is Orange, if I choose Red, the writing is Purple. Yet if I choose Green, it is Green but Yellow becomes a light Blue.

First stop:
Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

I did as suggested and it seems to have resolved the color problem on the one and only picture I now have in Lightroom. It said it was importing mu pictures but they are all greyed out. Now what? Please see the pic attached.

I logged out of my computer and logged back in and when I opened LR again, my pictures are restored but now I have the same problem with the colours that I had before. See pic attached .

Based upon what you've told me so far, I am betting on a bad monitor profile. Do you calibrate your monitor or are  you using stock profiles?

My colours were correct on the same monitor until I went from LR 5 to LR CC. I never use stock profiles.

Have you attempted a recalibration to see if it will fix your issue?

Finally calibrated my screen and the same problem occurs. Very frustrating.
