I don't like the way watermarks works now. Why not make it available in the effects panel so that you can adjust it for each photo separately? Not every photo is the same and demands another approach.

That would apply the waternark on every possible display, not only on export or in a web gallery. You would see the watermark on the image in library view, on prints and on slide shows too. I don’t think many people would want that.

Of course, there should be the option to turn off watermarks in one time for a certain folder/map. Or with the option of "apply only during export". Still better than exporting every image separately to get the right watermark for that picture. And, once exported you can't see anymore which watermark that was used. Therefore, i think watermarks within effects would be a great option for many users.

I don't think that is so easy. Lightroom is a parametric editor. That means that edits are stored in the catalog as a kind of 'to do list' and are only applied when an image needs to be rendered for output, or when a preview is rendered. A watermark in that list would automatically be rendered too, no matter where and how the image was used. That's the nature of the beast. Of course nothing is impossible, but what you ask for is a very fundamental change in the way the application works, so don't hold your breath.

BTW, you do know that Lightroom has the option to save as many watermark presets as you like, don't you? Of course that is not the same as having a dedicated watermark for each image, but would you really need that? If you think you do, then perhaps the problem is not in Lightroom, but in your watermark designs... :)

That gets my vote, as I'd prefer to be able to position the "signature" watermark to suit the photo. I'd like to be able to enable watermark in a Develop panel and set the location, opacity and color as another per-image setting. I'd also like an override switch in the Export panel to disable all watermarks for a specific export, just like you can override certain metadata being applied. I wouldn't imagine this would be an easy request, as it would require changes to the imaging pipeline as well as metadata, but it would be a nice addition.
