Lightroom: Quality of my video footage deteriorates when exported

I am really disappointed to see how much the quality of my video footage deteriorates when exported from LR4 with no adjustments made, just a trimming of in and out points. Huge ammounts of noise and a distinct color shift and exposure change.

I'd like to also see the options to export to other codecs - apple prores422 would be nice.

I will stay away from LR4 until I am able to do a round trip with my footage and see it unharmed. For now I am sticking to After Effects for all my grading... as clunky as it is at least it does the job.

Lr can't edit video at all, so how are you changing anything? If you export the original, there should be no change in quality.

LR 4 can edit video.

I can see very little to no change between import and export with the hiqhest quality setting.

Oh, I see. Trim and set the poster image. Shows how much I work with video.

Looks quite similar to me at Max quality.

Are you sure you set the quality to max?

Let me explain.

I imported footage. I trimmed the footage in light room. I applied not color effects at all.

I exported at max quality.

I then took both the original and the trimmed footage into after effects and placed them one above the other on the timeline for quick direct comparison.

The differences are very obvious and very ugly. Loads of noise and an exposure shift. I have checked and rechecked my findings for around 4 straight hours. Using different clips of footage and trying every combination of things you can think of.

Bottom line is that lightroom degrades your footage even when you apply no filters or effects. Very disappointing seeing as the same company makes photoshop, premier, after effects...

I really hope Adobe address this issue in the future and plan to add more export options. - apple proress and photo-jpeg would be nice for a start.
