very odd text bug in photoshop cc - please help

Suddenly my text layer in a file has become mostly invisible. Regardless of whether I make it a different color, turn off any special effects or resize it , The majority of it is hidden - almost like there is a layer with a box over top of it. But that does not exist and all the layers are currently turned off.
You can seethis in the screenshot.. The only one on is the text layer and I have no idea why there's this whole area missing over top

The other very strange mystery is that whenever I try to use the text tool to create a new layer, it automatically jumps back to this layer and Anything typed goes on this later instead of somewhere new. So I cannot add any new text all I can do is duplicate this one layer

I have never seen anything like this before and have been using Photoshop for years. Hopefully someone has some idea of what the what is going on.

Thank you in advance for your help or recommendations :-)

ps- This is one of many bugs in photoshop cc ive encountered. And before you suggest more ram, my computer is 2 months old- wind 10, with 16mbram and ample storage so thats not the issue.

Howdy Tanya,

That looks like your video card is choking.  Have you tried going under Preferences > Performance and turning off "use GPU"?  I've a feeling, that will make this go away.

Thanks,
David

You are using Demo version of the font. I tried your, but it works good for me. I wasn't sure if demo-font could be a problem because it doesn't contains everything. Maybe contexual alternatives could be missing, but this demo font don't have open type features.

Thank you both - like I mentioned its a weird glitch as its not happening anymore. thats why I dont think its the font, but yeah OS fonts come with their limits ;-)

I did try your suggestion David, although I hate tinkering in settings when I dont know whats going on with them. Plus I have a new Asus Zenbook with Nvidia GT940M so it should well be able to handle it. We shall see! Thanks for the tip.
