Lightroom: Develop Module in 3.6 has preview desaturated and artifacts

Lightroom 3.6 seems to have a Develop module issues with certain jpeg files. When viewing some of them in Catalog after they have been adjusted in Develop mode, they look fine, but when going back into Develop Module, they initially look fine (half second), then they become partially desaturated and some of the healing spots become "square regions". The Navigator preview is correct, just the main image in the Develop module is odd. If I zoom the image or move around in history, the image corrects itself to look like the Navigator preview. Most of the time the square healing spots turn back to normal as well.

I would be happy to upload screen captures if that would help but can't figure out yet how to do that in this new forum. I was editing this same general batch of old scans under 3.5 just prior to the upgrade with no similar issue.

Thank you in advance for any insight you might have. I would also like to consider rolling back to 3.5 but unsure how to ensure that the Photoshop plug-in for Camera Raw and the Camera Raw for LR stay in sink if I do that.

Thanks!

Jeff

Edit: I uninstalled 3.6 and reinstalled 3.5 and the problem disappears.

To add an image: use the Add Image button in the bottom right of the typing area for your message/reply.

"square regions" sounds like you're seeing problems with your video card driver, and driver problems could also cause desaturation.

You didn't say what OS version you were using, or the video card.
But you should try upgrading the video card driver from the GPU maker.

Hi Chris,

This is a W7-64bit installation using an ATI Radeon HD 4770. Drivers are fairly up to date, showing 4/19/2011. I doubt this is the problem since it goes away with a reinstallation of v3.5.

There were JPEG issues fixed with v3.6 and I believe one of those "fixes" may have some side-effects. If you email me directly I would be happy to provide screenshots of the behavior prior to the re-install of v3.5.

Didn't see the image button. I will attach now. The one labeled "LibraryImage" is what the image looks like first in the Library module. The "DevelopFirstEnter" is the desaturated look in the Develop Module about 1/2 second after switching from the Library module. The "DevelopAfterZoom" is how the image corrects itself after zooming in the Develop module. The last one called "DevelopWithSquares" is an example of an image where the heal spots have turned to squares.

The Images are in the order described. The JPEG names did not show up after the upload of the images.
