Recently I've came across a really stressful bug to do with the hand tool. Randomly when I let go after moving around the canvas, the canvas will instantly snap to a location and freeze there. All visuals within the window then don't appear to update after it happens and requires a restart to fix. It seems to be completely random as to when it decides to break and only effects the window of the document you have open.

Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any quick fixes I could do in the meantime?

Hi James,
Can you provide some more information about what you're seeing? What platform, OS, and input device (mouse/stylus) are you using when this freeze occurs?
Thanks,Adam

I have this same issue. When holding down the space bar hotkey to switch from a tool to the hand tool, as I am  left clicking to scroll the canvas, the window sometimes freezes. The cursor reverts to the basic windows cursor. All of the menus appear to work. I can even open a different PS file in a separate tab and everything works fine -no freeze. It just is the original file's window that is frozen. When this happens I just save and close the window, then reopen the file, and everything is back to normal.

It is very annoying, and persistent since I've upgraded to PS 2020. I don't recall it happening in any previous versions. It can happen within a few minutes of opening a file, or sometimes it can be a few hours. I use both a tablet and a mouse and keyboard, and the freeze seems to happen regardless of which I'm using. Additionally, the freeze also appears to happen when using the CTRL+SPACE hotkey for zooming in and out.

I'm currently on:
Windows 10
Photoshop 21.1.3
Wacom Intuos Pro M
I also use a standard USB mouse and keyboard.

I have reset my settings multiple times (starting the application with CTRL+ALT+SHIFT), and it doesn't appear to fix the issue. Though I am not totally sure since the issue happens so sporadically.
I appreciate any help with fixing this issue.

Thanks,
-Tommy

I  am having exactly the same issue.

This happens occasionally when I want to move an image with space bar + mouse.

The workaround that often works for me is to touch my graphics tablet (Wacom Intuos) with my stylus while pressing the space bar. Most of the time this unlocks the problem.
