I upgraded a new iMac to el capitan and my photoshop and design wouldn't work. I read to downgrade my JAVA to Java 8 upgrade 71 build 15 and this did work, but now my computer isn't working on the internet (garbled fonts, links not working, searches not working). I'm out of work right now and desperate, I'm also not tech savvy. Can anyone please, please help?

Photoshop 5.5 is not going to work with MacOS 10.11 - because it was written long before Apple moved to Intel processors.

If you mean Photoshop CS 5.5, then that can work, but you will need to update Java before Apple will let you run it (Apple puts up the Java warning, not Adobe).

You have to install the exact version that Apple tells you to install, or their warning won't go away.
