If your assistant gets the originals, they can load into LRCC on their computer, edit, and they'll sync back down to your Classic catalog. When they're done, you can remove it from sync.
If you get the originals, you can load them into Classic, tell it to sync smart previews to the cloud, which your assistant would be able to view/edit in LRCC, then their edits would sync back to your Classic catalog. Only thing is that way your assistant would only have smaller smart previews, not full size originals.

1. Can my assistant do panoramas on the cloud version?
2. Can my assistant do keywording and captions on the cloud?
3. I'm on 9.99 subscription lightroom classic at the moment. Do I need to upgrade to 14.99 to be able to use both lightroom classic and lightroom cc with more than 20gb.
4.is the syncing back to the classic version from the cloud version happens instantly or you need to commit them manually.
Thank you for your time.

2. Captions, yes. Keywords don't sync back to Classic (and yes, that's a contentious design decision!)
3. Yes, although if you're only working on one project at a time, or just syncing smart previews from Classic, you might not need more than 20GB.
4. It's automatic and fairly close to instant.

Like deleting from Lightroom mobile, nothing gets deleted from Classic. They would get deleted everywhere if Classic wasn't in the mix, so I'd back your caution.

On the other hand, it might all be complicated (bad idea), or else they created a solution looking for a problem.

And if you sync a photo from Classic/Pro, does it show up in the cloud?
There have been a few reports of slow syncing, so I imagine the servers are getting hammered this weekend, with everyone trying it out all of a sudden. They may have underestimated how many people would jump in with both feet. So, with that theory, even if we can't get it working, I might leave them in Social/CC for the minute so your edits don't get removed from the cloud.

I would hazard a guess by thinking they are intentionally not meant to work together and LR 'Old' is being slowly deprecated - hence the 'Classic' name.

I have been quite happy using Dropbox with a TB and year of file history (for 'extra protection') so if the two don't work together very well I'm not sure where the 'LR New' fits in..
It's all rather odd.
Thank you for your efforts and replies though, it is appreciated.

There is so much confusion and fear and doubt right now, but hopefully all shall become clear over the next few months.

Why can't it just integrate with Dropbox storage or something as an option instead.
The Dropbox sync combined with LR Web (sync with Mobile) works great, why do I need another cloud storage option - that doesn't even have file history.

I don't think they can do all their new AI stuff they're working on if they use Dropbox.

Hopefully it will improve over time and they will rename LR Classic as LR Professional so we don't get the wrong idea that it's being canned.
If they work well together and both are hanging around then I can see this working well.
