Upgraded to El Capitan I noticed that Lightroom now hugs the CPU at 90% or its crawling to a halt.

Since upgrading to El Capitan I noticed that Lightroom now hugs the CPU at 90% . Has this bug been fixed. I can't work like this.

Tell us more, as that's not most people's experience.

What is your computer's specs?

Where's the catalog stored?

How big's the catalog?  And do you have many smart collections (just testing a theory!)?

Are sync, face recognition and/or map locations enabled in the activity center (top left)?

Thanks. How many photos in the catalog?  And how many smart collections?

Have you optimized the catalog recently?

That is a weird one indeed Mona. Have you tried the standard troubleshooting steps?  http://www.lightroomqueen.com/standard-lightroom-troubleshooting-steps/

Thank you for the followup:
Still no change :(
I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom 2015.6
I optimized catalog.
I purge all Cache.
Still no improvement.
When I don't run Lightroom, CPU usage is normal. The moment I ran LR, I can hear the internal fan and CPU climbs again up to 98% .

Thank you for checking back. I wanted to dig deeper into this issue and so you should have an email from me for more on this.

I would strongly encourage you to keep the conversation open in this forum for visibility rather than in a side-bar email discussion.  Or at the very least, please be sure to post the complete findings and resolution here once completed.  There are others (myself included) that are facing the same issues and are having to resort to installing previous versions of LR, use PS instead, or try out Capture One, etc.

Yes David, completely agree. I've just sent out private mail asking for logs and lrcat file which should shed some light on the issue. We've not yet been able to reproduce this internally, unfortunately. Will keep this thread updated.
