Updating Camera Raw to 9.0 caused disaster

For my new EOS 100D camera (as I couldn't see how to work the free DNG converter) as I have Photoshop 13.0.6 x64 ACR 7,3 (and Bridge 5.0.24 I think) I apparently successfully downloaded the ACR 9.0 Update.

Despite Photoshop>Help>Updates saying I am up to date now, ACR doesn't work even on old images at all and in Photoshop>About plug-ins>Camera Raw I get the dialog "Could not complete Camera Raw Command because the file was not found". PLEASE help.

The 100D only requires ACR 7.4.

First, try installing the ACR 9 using the manual installer, here, if you didn't do this, already: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/m...

Keep in mind that there is a more recent OS version requirement for ACR 9 than there is for CS 6, so if this installer fails then perhaps that is the problem.

If your OS is not new enough then install ACR 8.3 from here:
