Photoshop Elements: Help application updates get in the way of simply searching help content

I recently attempted to use the Smart Fix feature in Photoshop Elements 9. I know the product was fairly up to date as I had just downloaded and installed updates two weeks ago. Desiring to better understand how the Smart Fix feature worked, I clicked on the link "Learn more about: Adjust Smart Fix". After I did that, I was informed that I needed to download some updates - so I agreed. 15 minutes later after THREE AIR updates and then an 80 MB Community Help Update (in three download parts no less) and I can now restart my computer just so I can "Learn more about: Adjust Smart Fix" My point is your update system is asinine. I shouldn't have to wait for over 15 minutes and a reboot of my computer just to read a very a simple Help document. If this was the first time this had happened with your software I'd just chalk it up to my installation being out of date, but it's not. I see this kind of crap happen all the time with your products and it needs to stop. You guys need to figure our a better way to update your software without inconveniencing your users. Almost every time I use one of your products it needs to be updated and it's a major frustration for the time lost. I mean really, should it take 15 mintutes just to update a single help question? I'm runnning an AMD Quad Core CPU @ 3.4 GHz with 4 GB of RAM on Windows 7 64 bit with dual nVidia 9800's in SLI mode, so I know my system isn't the issue. You guys really need to do a better job with the updates and make your software more efficient. As much as your charge for most of your products, us end users really should be getting much better support from your company.

Hi Steve: I am the product manager for the Adobe Community Help application and I want to apologize for your frustration. Assuming that you now have the latest version of the Help app (to check, open Adobe Help > About > Version 3.5), I can assure you that you won't be experiencing the same kinds of issues going forward. Version 3.5 has completely revamped the content and application update workflow so that these processes will now happen in the background, with no interruption to the user workflow. Going forward, content updates will be indicated via a message in the footer or a simple message on the home screen, with all download processes happening in the background. Similarly, updates to the Help application itself (but not PS Elements) will likewise happen in the background, similar to Google Chrome.
