Lightroom CC 2015.6: Update makes already Synced photos to resync

After updating to LR CC 2015.6 already Synced photos are being resynced.

Looking at the new Pending Sync Activity "metadata" was getting updated, then all those resynced photos began resyncing again this time showing "rendering" as well as "metadata". I was watching the “Syncing xxx photos” go down to 34 (from total of 7125 synced photos) and Pending Sync Activity said it was metadata being uploaded but after 40 minutes it’s “Syncing 6 345 photos” and Pending Sync Activity show rendering and metadata.

To me it seems like after the update to LR CC 2015.6 the Camera Profile for the synced photos might get changed, which then triggers the re-syncing.

I can’t remember for 100 % sure if I really have been having a different Camera Profile for the couple of photos I looked at but it does look suspicious as with one of my Nikons (D300) my import preset include changing to Camera Profile to Camera Standard v4 and it’s been changed to Camera Standard (the one without v4 suffix).

If this is true (updating to LR 2016.6 will change Camera Profiles on photos) it’s alarming as Camera Profiles can change the look of the photo dramatically. It basically means all photos should be reprocessed to check the Camera Profile setting.

OS X 10.11.5 Activity Monitor says Lightroom is taking up between 200 % – 600 % of processor load and all available memory on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro with quadcore i7 2.3 GHz and 16 GB memory (first the memory went from 4 GB slowly to 8 GB continuing up to 10–11 GB before suddenly going to 5 GB and it's slowly getting bigger as I write this).

I have to stop working and let it upload those already synced photos, again. This happened with previous Lightroom update as well. I'm hoping it wouldn't happen with every LR update and will try to provide any info necessary to help track this issue down.

I noticed this resyncing also with the update. When a changed cameraprofile is responsible for this than it's indeed alarming. However, i did not see this. I'm curious however what's causing this, i have more than 9000 files that are resyncing now and it's a very slow proces.

If you look in the camera profile pop-up, is the other profile still there, or not?

After two hours just letting it resync Lightroom's memory usage seems to be settling for 5–6 GB and not going up anymore. Still 5 275 photos to sync (from total of 7 125) – now just renditions.

Hi all.
I updated 4 days ago. Desktop immediately started to resync my 40,600 sync'd photos. I left it running and went camping for Father's Day. Upon my return yesterday, it's now at 24,245 and it's changing very slowly (2-5 minutes per image)!
Preferences says no activity. (see below)
Further, the Father's Day album that I created last night has not made it to my iPad nor to LR on the web!
Help!
I've tried logging out and back in on iPad, web, and LightRoom desktop. Don't really want to "Delete All Data" and start over. I've done that before and it takes about a week to get caught up even though I have a high speed Internet connection.
iPad is reporting 40,614 images, which is all but last night's album of 211. iPad reports "All up to date".

Windows 10, 24GB Ram, 8-core processor (only about 25% busy with LightRoom!)

"Preferences says no activity."
On my system it took some time to show the pending files. With 24.245 photo's it could be the same..

"Further, the Father's Day album that I created last night has not made it to my iPad nor to LR on the web!"
I my case the same. These new album is the last in the row. First al the other images has to resync. Than the new album is showing.

The issue has been confirmed internally. The engineer is investigating it. It is re-generating the JPEG previews and uploading them to the server. There are no actual change to your develop settings.  We're looking to fix it in the next update.

Simon, today I used Save Metadata to Files for a shoot of 3202 photos of which 505 were already synced to Lightroom mobile – it triggered the sync. Is this related to the JPEG previews re-generating after Lightroom update issue? Currently Pending Sync Activity seems to report "Renditions" as activity for the photos. I keep the automatically write changes to XMP setting off.

Down to 22,653 to go. 12 hours later at this rate it will be done in 7 more days! I love Lightroom and I am dependant on it now. This should have been tested before release. I have to wait 7 more days to re-sync when there are no actual changes. Further, I can't get to my most recent collections until 7 days from now (on the iPad).

A week and a half in since the update and my sync is down to 5,866 to go. Lightroom has been running continuously. Hope this is fixed in the next release and it doesn't trigger another re-sync.

Me too, Michael, hope this fix gets in the next update. I'm finding synced photos convenient for my usage and workflow (I like taking a look at the photos on the iPad Retina screen). I guess I could soon be having tens of thousands of synced photos as you are.

Glad to know it's not just my setup. Yes, I too like the iPad. I use it for my first selection/rejection pass (it's so much easier to flag/reject by swiping my thumb up or down) and I use it for initial cropping, straightening. I also find that much easier on the iPad with fingers rather than the mouse. It's also great to show my photos anywhere I am. Most times I don't even have to be online.
I do find the iPad is fine (so far) with my 40,000+ images. I usually download a few thousand for local editing and I have not had any issues.
Good luck with your iPad workflow!

Interesting and I'd enjoy first pass selection on iPad as well but I'm finding it too slow a workflow (ingest memory card, import to Lightroom, make a synced Collection, wait photos to upload to cloud, wait photos to download to Lightroom Mobile on iPad). In addition, I'm finding it inconvenient to open up all photos on Lightroom Mobile on iPad just to be able to see them 1:1 to be able to review critical focus and be able to fly from photo to photo. Wish there would be a way to force generate previews on iPad.

Currently I'm using Photo Mechanic to ingest, review critical focus and make the first pass selection, before importing to Lightroom. Makes all the difference.

Showing photos straight from iPad truly is great!

Confirmed! Works now. But, I realised now that when I save metadata to sidecar file with Save Metadata to Files (Cmd + S) Lightroom insist on re-syncing those photos again. Why is this?
