Along with the ability to import and convert to DNG it would be nice to be able to update (and view) the process version of files

Can you explain a little more Darren? New photos import with the latest process version unless you're applying a Develop preset that's set to the old version.

Thanks for your reply Victoria and I hope the following makes sense:

I have a 35k image library spanning over 12 years. I have run Lightroom since v2, and 95% of my images are DNG converted from CR2 with Lightroom.  As the Lightroom versions have matured so too has the process version.  At the last process version change to v3 I updated my library.

With the release of the new CC I decided to run a trial of the new CC vs Classic CC.  The only functions missing from CC I could work around by keeping a reduced functionality classic CC running (print and DNG conversion) o I went for a new CC 1TB subscription with reduced functionality classic cc.  However when my catalog migrated from Classic CC to new CC they were all still v3.  Having reduced functionality classic I cannot use the develop module so cannot see the process version.  new cc does not give you a way to see this either so I am slightly blind.

Further to this my classic cc saved import process had a lens correction preset saved which it is still doing but I am unsure if this is still using the v3 process version.

My new workflow still uses Classic CC to "add as DNG", using a saved import configuration that also adds new images to a collection, which is all photos synced to new CC, wait for these to sync to new cc, then add the newly converted DNG's to new CCto replace the smart previews that were synced by classic cc.  I have no idea if these new images are v3 or v4 and what the migrated images are.

Feels like this could all be a bit simpler though!!

That should be ok. They'll stay as V3 in CC until you edit, at which point they automatically/silently update to V4. PV1/2 tell you they can't be edited without updating.

Yes, it'll apply any custom defaults you had set. You can either reset the custom defaults, or just let them carry on. If you want to check what it's applying, you can open up the defaults XMP file in a text editor and check the line that says something like  crs:Version="6.7" (PV3) or    crs:Version="10.0" (PV4)  If you tell me your OS, I can dig up the location to find that file.
