Wanted to add some photos on external hard drive to existing catalogue on a iMac with Yosemite 10.10.5.
With the limited options on the new update, I could not see the path or have any idea where the files were going .
Choose the option add , photos disappeared from the external hard drive.
If I open the folder on the hard drive, there is nothing in it.

However, if I unplug the hard drive, I get the question mark by the photos. I have to plug the drive in for the catalogue to find the photos, which is how it should be.
However, why can I not see the photos on the external drive ? What happened to them . Why now can they only be accessed by Lightroom?

I plugged the external drive into another computer , nothing showing up in the folders. I have the same catalogue on the second computer and the same thing happens, question mark by photos if external hard drive not plugged in, but can not see the photos on the hard drive.

I have no idea what happened to the original photos.

I will be the first to admit that I am not an expert with lightroom, but this is the first time I have ever had this type of problem.

What happened to my original files and why can't I see them on the external drive?

If it matters , I use iMac and Macbook pro, operating system is Yosemite 10.10.5.

For the record, do not like the new import feature at all. Should not have to uninstall and reinstall last version.
