Once you close the file, there is no way to Undo any change done in that file.

Ok thanks, thought that was the case. Is there a way of knowing what changes where made to the original image instead?

Once you close a file, there is no way to know the history of changes.
Though before you close a file, you can view the changes in History panel. To open history panel, go to 'Windows' > 'History'.
