Why do I get message "Photoshop Express is unable to open this file"? The image is a jpg on a network drive. This is Photoshop Express app running on a Windows 8 PC.

Hi Richard,

This looks like a problem with some specific images - since i was able to open and save most of the images from a network drive,

Can you copy those images to your local drive and try opening them.

Also would be great if you can send one of those images for us to try out. You can send them to asinghpa@adobe.com

Thanks.

Great suggestion to copy to local drive. I don't know why I didn't try that. It turns out the problem is caused by me using a symbolic link to folders on the network drive.

I used the symbolic link technique because you cannot add the network folders directly to Windows library structure because the network drive cannot be indexed.

Bottom line is that Photoshop Express app cannot access files via symbolic links.

Yes i noticed it wasn't able to open files via symbolic links.

But this looks like a common metro apps problem. Other editing apps and even microsoft's "photos" app was not able to open via symbolic links.
