Lightroom: Unable to import photos with LR 4.2

Hi,
I am unable to import photos files from any sources (card reader, camera or hard drive) with LR 4.2. The files are not corrupt since I was able to import them with iphoto.
When I try to import photos a popup appears saying that Lightroom is unable to read these files. I used files from formated card. I also tried to downgrade to LR 4.1 with no success.
Thank you,
Mario

I use Imac (late 2010) with OSX 10.7.5 and Canon 50D

Hi Mario,

can you try creating a new catalog in Lightroom, and test importing into the new catalog? I want to rule out a catalog issue first.

If import into a new catalog doesn't work, then can you post a sample file that doesn't import (use dropbox or yousendit).

Thanks,
Becky

Hi Becky,

Creating a new catalog in lightroom works.
What should I do to correct my other catalog.

Thanks,
Mario

Hi Mario,

Good to know that the import works in a new catalog. I'll contact you privately for a copy of your other catalog, so we can investigate more.

At this point, I'd recommend you merge your catalogs. To do this:

1. Start Lightroom with the new catalog (the one where import works)
2. Go to the File menu and choose Import from catalog.
3. Select your other catalog (the one where import doesn't work), and follow the prompts to import the old catalog into the new.

This should bring all your images and changes into the new catalog.

Having same issue. New catalog doesn't solve problem.

Message is the following: The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (1)
DSC02392.ARW

Have Sony a77 and a550. Have reformatted card, put onto other memory format, used card reader, changed cards to other camera, upgraded to 4.2 and still the same issue.

If I use my laptop with 3.6 I don't have this problem. In fact this problem started recently. Had no issues less than a month ago with 3.6 on my desktop. Thought upgrade would solve this but hasn't.

I just started having this issue as well. Creating a new catalog did not resolve the problem. I have the same message as the above user. Could you help?
